The Human

I'm Ronan. I've worked with enterprise, government, accountancy, educators, regulators, baristas, chefs, and the odd lawyer here and there. I have also worked in teaching, looked after ailing family members, and helped teach parents and families the digital literacy to stay safe in an increasingly treacherous online space - for ourselves, and particularly children. One thing that is ubiquitous across my experience technically is communication. Lateral, vertical, left, right, up or down - communication is a key lynchpin for any project, plan, piece of work, company, or person.
This is even more pertinent where any technical domain specific knowledge comes into consideration. Communication and comprehension in technical projects are paramount to success.

With more than 9 years working across various technical projects, and decades prior with call center work, hospitality, teaching, research, (this listing things may get tiresome, so let's just say I know my stuff), I am uniquely positioned to be able to serve as a trusted and clear teacher and translator for your business and your home.

I will turn your needs into requirements that an intelligent system can handle, and help you make use of the tools already at your disposal - as well as show you how to avoid and understand the ones you don't need. What I Do

Cloud & Infrastructure as Code

Terraform and OpenTofu across Azure and AWS: reusable modules, data-driven network configs, environment-separated state, and secretless CI/CD using OIDC federation and managed identities. If it touches a tenant, it's code — validated, gated, and reviewable before it runs.

Identity & Endpoint Management

Entra ID managed as code — users, groups, and directory roles from declarative config — alongside Autopilot and Intune device management via Microsoft Graph. Endpoint automation on both sides of the fence: PowerShell for Windows and Active Directory, hardened bootstrap scripting for macOS fleets.

Cloud Operations & Reliability

Formerly an SRE at larger Australian consultancies. Multi-cloud deployments, pipeline retrofits with security review baked in, monitoring with Grafana and Datadog, and incident response that includes recovering a business from ransomware. I've also run network security assessments for flat Wi-Fi environments — finding the exposure before someone else does, and looking for potential breaches in home and office security suites.

Agentic & Spec-Driven Engineering

AI and ML is a tool. Like any tool, the outcome depends on how it is used: you can give a hammer and nails to anyone — but not everyone can build a house. I drive multiple coding agents through work phases unattended, manage tasks with a human-focused UI, and operate within a documented spec-driven workflow (requirements → design → tasks → implementation, with approval gates) that ties it all together. We use AI and the tools as the workers — the brick layers, the plumbers, the electricians who really know their domain — so all we have to do as designers and architects is decide what we want in a clear, structured way, and specify it.

Building Products

Beyond infrastructure: an iOS app doing fully on-device computer vision for health data (Swift, ARKit, Core ML — no cloud in the loop), a YAML-driven website engine in Svelte 5 powering real client sites, local LLM serving on Apple Silicon, and the small, sharp Python tools that run my own consulting practice.
